Biman board approves proposal to buy 10 Airbus planes


Dhaka: The proposal to buy 10 aircraft from Airbus has been approved by Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ Board of Directors on May 3.
The matter of purchase was finalised in the board meeting chaired by Biman Chairman Mustafa Kamal Uddin.
The aircraft will be purchased from the European plane manufacturer Airbus company on a G2G basis. Two Airbus planes will join the fleet in 2026 while the rest of the aircraft will be added in phases.
The meeting also discussed various issues including the costing price of the aircraft and the process of purchase.
About the matter, reports cited State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali saying that the Biman’s Board of Directors has decided to send a profile to the Prime Minister's office comprising various technical issues about the purchase including procurement method, price, and source of money.
He further said, the new Airbus aircraft will make Biman’s fleet stronger. With these, in phases, Biman plans to resume the currently closed routes and start new ones, reports added.
