Rosatom’s wind power division launches LDC

Rosatom's wind power division- NovaWind has launched a Load Dispatch Centre (LDC) to centralize short-term forecasting of power generation at wind farms. Operating 24/7, LDC will submit real-time power output forecasts to the electricity and capacity market operator and perform a number of other functions, such as wind farm performance analysis.
LDC uses a set of proprietary technology solutions to enable real-time telemetry data acquisition from every wind turbine. The primary function of LDC is to improve the overall performance of Rosatom’s wind power division by making short-term generation forecasts more accurate.
According to the plan, LDC will operate in a pilot mode for the next two months. This much time is required to finish on-site training of LDC staff (dispatchers and data analysts), to have dispatching regulations approved, and refine the data management, software, and technical solutions employed.
NovaWind was established in 2017. It accumulates Rosatoms’s competencies in wind power generation, from design and construction to mechanical engineering and operation of wind farms. As of today, NovaWind has commissioned 720 MW of wind power capacity. By 2027, Rosatom plans to put a total of about 1.7 GW of wind capacity in operation.
