S'pore aims all its hotels to be carbon neutral by 2050

Hotels in Singapore have aimed to start tracking its carbon emissions by next year, and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, as part of targets set out in a sustainability roadmap launched by the Singapore Hotel Association (SHA) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) on Monday (Mar 21).
In addition to emission targets, the industry also hopes that 60 per cent of hotel room stock in the city-state will attain internationally recognised sustainability certification by 2025.
To help hotels achieve these goals, the sustainability roadmap laid out 4 strategies they can adopt.
This includes developing sustainable hotel concepts such as farm-to-table dining experiences, rooftop herb gardens and eco-friendly bedding.
Hotels can also promote sustainable habits among hotel guests by replacing water bottles with a filtration tap inside the rooms, providing housekeeping services only upon request and using sustainable hotel toiletries.
Hotels can source for sustainable solution providers through Enterprise Singapore's Sustainability Marketplace to try out and adopt innovative sustainable solutions.
