American Airlines & Qatar Airways announce strategic alliance

Qatar Airways and American Airlines are expanding their strategic alliance with a new codeshare agreement, which allows American customers to book travel to Qatar
Airways flights via Doha to and from 16 new countries.
Pending any required government codeshare approval, travelers can book travel across Qatar to their final destinations in Ethiopia, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Malaysia, Maldives, Oman, Pakistan, Seychelles , Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
This expanded codeshare came as American launched a new service on June 4 from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH).
The new service established American as the only U.S. carrier serving the Gulf region, seamlessly connecting Doha with Qatar Airways.

The strategic alliance includes Qatar Airways, the Middle East’s leading carrier in terms of frequencies and destinations and the six-time Skytrax ‘World’s Best Airline’ award winner, which puts its code on thousands of American domestic flights – Strengthens connectivity and create new travel options for customers.
The American network enables connections to over 250 cities in North America and Qatar Airways ’extensive network of over 85 associated destinations allows passengers to access gateways in the Middle East, East Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia. The airlines, both members of the oneworld alliance, make way for more cohesive travel within the alliance and around the world.
