Bangladesh records history’s highest air travel sales in December

Dhaka: Bangladesh recorded the highest ever single month air travel sales in December 2021 despite travel restrictions to many countries worldwide over the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report of International Air Transport Association.
IATA in its report said, the country sold BDT 10.34 billion air travel products through IATA channels in December 2021.
This followed the second-highest single month sales of November 2021 which was BDT 8.2 billion while the average monthly and yearly sales volumes of the country’s aviation market in 2021 are BDT 3.2 billion and BDT 52 billion respectively, added the report.
The international aviation body also noted that IATA channel sales of the country’s aviation market in 2021 (BDT 55.8 billion) almost returned to its pre-pandemic level which is only 1.52 per cent behind than the year 2019 (BDT 56.7 billion) prior to the pandemic.
However, this does not mean the aviation market of Bangladesh has reached its pre-pandemic level, “in lite of the qualitative approach such as availability and accessibility of the travel products by mass group, pricing fairness, travel/immigration policy,” further mentioned IATA.
