Devastating fire burns down many resorts in Sajek

Dhaka: A devastating fire broke out in early morning today at Sajek valley in Rangamati’s Baghaichhari upazila and burned down at least five establishments including three resorts.

The fire originated around 3:00 am on December 1, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shariful Islam, according to reports.

The UNO said, a team of fire service, with the help of locals and law enforcers, managed to douse the fire after frantic efforts of two and half hours.

The fire gutted three resorts, a restaurant and a house, he further added.

Several facebook posts by tourists claimed that three resorts – Maruarty Resort, Abakash Emanuel Resort and Eco Resort – were burned down in the fire.

Initially, it was assumed that the fire originated from short circuit.
