Egyptair’s flight launch from Dhaka delayed

Dhaka: The launch of passenger flight services to and from Dhaka of Egypt’s state-owned carrier Egyptair has been delayed.
The airline previously announced to commence direct flights on Dhaka-Cairo route from November 1. However, due to an increase in airport taxes globally, the launch has been delayed, said the GSA of Egyptair, according to reports.
“Following the coronavirus pandemic, like all other airlines, Egyptair is having to readjust taxes in their reservation system at different destinations across the globe. Due to this reason, the launch of direct flights to and from is taking some more time,” said Farhad Hossain, Executive Director and COO of Alo Dhaka Aviation, the global sales agent of Egyptair.
“Now, we are eyeing to start the flights on Dhaka-Cairo route in December,” he added.
Reports also quoted Farhad saying the airline will increase its services further in January 2022.
Alo Dhaka Aviation, the GSA of Egyptair, said they would announce several tour packages in an effort to encourage travellers to visit Egypt’s historical sites including the pyramids and many attractive museums.
Transit passengers from Bangladesh can also fly with Egyptair as the airline offers a huge network of 80 destinations worldwide, especially in Egypt, Europe, Africa and North America.
The launch of Egyptair’s direct flights between Dhaka and Cairo would further facilitate bilateral trade, tourism and student exchange between Bangladesh and Egypt, said the airline officials.
Headquartered at Cairo International Airport, Egyptair currently has a fleet of 69 aircraft and operates passenger services to over 80 destinations in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas.
