Govt allows daily flights on Mumbai/Delhi-Kolkata routes

Dhaka: The West Bengal government is now allowing daily flights on Mumbai-Kolkata and Delhi-Kolkata routes.
On January 31, the government of West Bengal announced a number of Covid-19 relaxations which included daily flight operations from Mumbai and Delhi to Kolkata.
However, the flights must adhere to Covid-19 norms and all passengers must carry a negative RT-PCR test result.
Furthermore, West Bengal allowed daily flights to and from the United Kingdom with an RT-PCR test rider.
West Bengal is witnessing a decline in Covid-19 cases currently with 3427 new cases was recorded on January 30.
Earlier on January 3, the West Bengal government restricted flights from the national capital Delhi and financial capital Mumbai after these cities reported a surge in Covid-19 cases.
Flights from Delhi and Mumbai were allowed to touch Dumdum only three days a week from January 5.
Moreover, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that night curfew will be in force across the state between 11:00 pm till 5:00 am instead of earlier 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.
Restaurants, bars, and cinema halls will operate at 75 per cent capacity while parks and tourist places will also reopen with Covid-19 safety protocols, the Bengal CM added.
