Govt setting up RT-PCR facility at country’s three airports

Dhaka: The government has announced to set up booths for carrying out RT-PCR tests at three airports of the country – Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet. These facilities will ensure Covid-19 test results within four to six hours before flying out of the country, said Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam.
The government has taken the decision upon demands of other countries. For instance, UAE has made it mandatory for travellers to test for Covid-19 at departing airport before boarding flights. Hence thousands of UAE bound immigrants have been stranded in the country while their visas are getting expired leading to the loss of their jobs.
Finally, their prayers have been answered and their sufferings will soon end as the government is now establishing PCR test facilities at three airports of the country.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given directives to set up RT-PCR booths at three airports in the country, within shortest possible time," Cabinet Secretary said while addressing media at a briefing after the Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat.
The PM has also given directives to disaster and agriculture ministries to remain prepared to tackle the flood which is worsening, Anwarul also said.
