Sharjah adopts three-day weekend from Friday to Sunday

Dhaka: UAE’s Sharjah announced on December 9 a shift to a three-day weekend for the official sector of the southern gulf emirate.
Sharjah will be reducing its working week for government agencies to Monday to Thursday and the weekend will run between Friday and Sunday, effective on January 1, 2022.
The move follow’s UAE’s announcement earlier of slashing the official working week to four-and-a-half days as well as moving its weekend to Saturday and Sunday.
Upping it by another notch, the Sharjah Executive Council said its decision is in line with the UAE’s vision to develop its competitive position.
The Sharjah Executive Council said, “The move would support the business environment and economic market, while keeping pace with global development.”
While becoming the only gulf country not to have a Friday-Saturday weekend, the resource filled UAE now comes in line with the non-Arab world.
