Saudia’s Jeddah-Bangkok flight diverts to Dhaka over medical emergency


Dhaka: A Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner of Saudi Arabian Airlines on Jeddah-Bangkok route diverted to Dhaka on October 24 after a Thai passenger fell sick onboard.
Speaking to The Bangladesh Monitor, an airline staff informed that the passenger fell sick onboard while flying over Dhaka and the pilot immediately decided to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to treat the passenger with urgent medical care.
However, even after landing at Dhaka Airport, the passenger eventually did not survive. Later, the body was taken onboard to Bangkok.
The flight departed Jeddah at 1220 local time on October 24 and proceeded eastbound to Bangkok. However, upon reaching the eastern coast of Bangladesh, the aircraft diverted in a north-easterly direction and landed into Dhaka instead, at 2145 local time. Afterwards, the flight departed Dhaka and landed at Bangkok at 0030 local time.
It may be mentioned here that the Saudia flight SV848 is a schedule flight between Jeddah and Bangkok operated by a Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner.
