TOAB's new executive committee takes charge


Dhaka: The newly elected executive committee of the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), led by President Mohammad Hanif, officially assumed office through a formal handover-takeover ceremony held at the association's headquarters in the capital on June 28.
The outgoing committee, led by immediate past President Md. Rafeeuzzaman, formally handed over responsibilities to the new leadership in the presence of former and newly elected directors and TOAB members and officials, read a press release.
Speaking after taking charge, Hanif thanked the association's members for their trust and support, pledging to work towards the development of Bangladesh's tourism industry, promote the country as an international tourist destination, safeguard members' interests, and transform TOAB into a more dynamic and modern trade body.
He said the new committee would prioritize sustainable tourism development, stronger policy support for the sector, expanded international cooperation, and initiatives to enhance the business capacity of TOAB members.
Outgoing President Rafeeuzzaman congratulated the new committee and expressed hope that all members would continue working together to strengthen the organization and advance Bangladesh's tourism sector.
The new executive committee was elected through TOAB's biennial election held on June 16 at the Bangladesh Tourism Corporation auditorium in Agargaon, Dhaka. Sunday's ceremony marked the official transfer of responsibilities to the newly elected board for the 2026–2028 term.
Besides President Mohammad Hanif, the newly elected office bearers include Syed Shafat Uddin Ahmed Tamal as First Vice President, Md. Moinul Islam and Ziaur Rahman Zakir as Vice Presidents, Jahir Ahmed Helal as Finance Director, Md. Jahir Uddin as Accounts Director, Md. Firozul Islam as International Affairs Director, and Md. Mizanur Rahman as Media and Public Relations Director.
Other directors elected to the board are Md. Abul Baset Babu (Trade and Fairs), Md. Rabiul Islam Robi (Legal Affairs), Md. Abu Raihan Sarkar (Printing and Publications), Naimul Hasan (Training and Research), Mominul Islam Asif (Information Technology), Syed Md. Imtiaz (Culture and Sports), A. B. M. Zakaria Rajib (Membership and Welfare), Shakhwat Hossain (Property and Assets), Md. Mohi Uddin Selim, Tamim Ahmed, Md. Nurul Anwar, and Associate Member Group Representative Md. Nasir Uddin Badal.
